She Heralds

My parents gave me this little gem for Christmas.  My Mom has been adding to my nativity set year after year and I find myself loving this little angel more and more.  She is heralding the new born King – Jesus!

Angel 1

I have already decided that I can not bare to pack her up and place her in a box until next Christmas.

She is a reminder to me of how I want to live out 2016 – joyfully heralding the Good News of Jesus in the big things and the small.

The angels we see in the Bible who are named, take the form of men.  I am almost certain that some of the angels in the choir heralding the birth of Jesus must have had female form, someone had to sing the soprano part.

The word CHOIR takes me back twenty-five plus years to high school.  I felt that I was  pretty good singer.  I should have been, I spent hours practicing in my room, in front of my mirror with yes…a hairbrush for a microphone.

When auditions came I was sure to be a shoe in for the Chamber Choir, the elite choir that traveled and sang.  The choir director thought differently and I never became a part of that elite choir.

Just the fact that I am still talking about it over twenty-five years later may tell you that I still haven’t quite gotten over it.

I have some good news for me and for you –

As Christians, believers in Jesus, we have an automatic spot in the choir. Each singing her unique song.

To herald is to give news or tidings of; announce; proclaim.  In this world of bad news, we have Good News to proclaim.  News that will set people free, give hope and bring peace to chaotic lives.

We all have a spot in this Choir, everyone of us.

Our lives sing the song.

So my friends,  pick up your microphone, your hairbrush or whatever you have handy and let’s ring in the New Year, singing a new song!

Angel 2

Heralding the Good News of Jesus is a beautiful thing – How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7
